No matter if you are looking for ideas for school halloween parties or sharing with kids who are trick-or-treating, sometimes you need ideas that are candy free. Here are some great ideas for kids of all ages to enjoy.
These non-candy alternatives are a great option for those participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project on halloween night.
The Teal Pumpkin Project is a mission dedicated to having non-candy treats for kids with allergies so that they can participate on Halloween night. By placing a teal pumpkin on your doorstep, you let kids and parents know that you have allergy safe non-food treats. In place of candy, you can offer goody bags filled with small toys and other non edible treats. You can even sign your house up as one that is safe!
These fun alternatives can be found at places like your local grocery store, local CVS or Walgreens, dollar stores, party supply stores, and of course, online.
Remember to keep these in a separate bowl away from all other candy to make them safe!

Halloween Pencils, Pens, Crayons
My parents would get these every year and seasonal pencils are always fun.
Halloween Play doh

Sweet Treat without the Sugar

Dollar Bills
One of the more expensive options if you are handing these out, but older kids would love a bit of money to spend!
Fruit snacks
These are a great treat that are sweet but not filled with sugar. My favorite brand is Annie’s.
Hot Chocolate mixes
Nothing is better than coming home after a cool night of trick-or-treating and enjoying a mug of hot chocolate. Note! Some mixes (like this one!) contain coconut and eggs and dairy.
Granola Bars
Packed with protein, this is a great way to sneak in some extra nutrition. Note, a lot of premade granola bars contain wheat and nuts and peanuts.
Juice Boxes
A sugar free drink to keep kids going on halloween night.

My parents have done this since I was little…. They save their change throughout the year in a jar. Come Halloween night, they’d take a handful and drop the coins into each kid’s bag. The little ones are happy with a tone of pennies, the older ones we’d just drop what we grab and let them have fun comparing who ended up with more at the end of the night.
Beware of juice boxes as they can leak and may contain allergens. 😉 Filtered water is very likely from coconut charcoal.
Thanks! I remember getting coins when I would go out as well. Good point about juice boxes can leak. No one wants soggy candy! And yes, I’ve been looking into water filters and coconut charcoal. Again, it amazes me how much coconut can sneak into.
